Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury (UMBI) is often neglected, rejected or disregarded as an unnecessary cost.
For some this may be the case, for others it may be detrimental.
Determine where you land on the spectrum. You may even land in the middle, which is also an option.
Just ask yourself this question:
What do I have to lose (emphasize I, that’s YOU) if another driver is responsible for hurting me/my body parts by means of a vehicle accident.
What do you have to lose another driver is carrying TOO LOW OF LIMTS (underinsured) or NONE AT ALL.
Consider, a majority of drivers just choose state minimum limits to get their vehicle road legal and some do this because they THINK that it’s the cheap way to purchase insurance OR they are just unaware there are higher limits options for very little extra cost.
None the less, other driver, just like yourself choose LIABILITY limits to protect their assets from exposure if they were to cause a vehicle accident.
Let’s just say the person is in the poverty level and doesn’t have much to lose if they caused an incident. This is perfectly ok. As the point of liability insurance is to protect your assets. IF you have little to none, then you have little to nothing to protect.
So keep this in mind when you are purchasing your #autoinsurance. Your protecting YOUR FINANCIAL WELL BEING from both ends. The end where you may cause and incident and the end where another may be responsible for injuring you.
You have the option to choose UMBI limits that will equal the limits you carry. You also have the option to choose the minimal amount, which would equal the State Minimum auto liability limits, and then you have the option to choose anywhere in-between. The only option you don’t have is to carry more than you’re own auto liability limits (the limits that protect your assets if you were the one to cause a vehicle accident).
